Our Goat Meat
Why not try fresh, locally raised goat meat? Our goats are raised in the fresh air out on pasture planted specifically for their dining pleasure. Over winter, they are supplemented with locally grown hay. They always have constant access to clean water and goat mineral. Trying goat for the first time? We can provide you with recipes. |

How do I purchase goat meat from your farm? Our supply of goat meat (chevon) is seasonal. Kids are born in the spring and are ready for processing at 4-7 months of age. We will transport the goat(s) to L & M Slaughterhouse in Georgetown, IL or Allen's Meats in Homer, IL for processing. Because goats are smaller than sheep or cattle, you will be purchasing the entire animal. We can guide you as to how to have it cut - some prefer the traditional roasts and stew meat, while others have it all ground for burgers, etc. You also can take home the organ-meats (think paleo!) and bones (great for soup stock or bone broth!). We charge $2.50 per pound/liveweight and accept cash, check or PayPal You are responsible for paying the processor - a minimum of $45 if you just want the carcass (perfect for a BBQ). If you prefer the carcass cut and wrapped to your specifications, it will be an additional 70¢ per pound hanging weight. The average 50 lb goat kid would cost about $60-70 for processing (in addition to the purchase price of the goat). You are responsible for picking up the packaged meat from the processor.
How much meat will we get?
The average kid is 50#; if you have bone-in cuts of meat, you will get about 25# of product. If you have it all ground, you will get about 12# of meat.
Goat $125
Processing $65
Total $190
Cost per pound (bone in cuts) $7.60 per pound, (all ground= $16 per pound)
The above are rough estimates, they will vary depending on the size of the goat and how you have it cut.
Our processors work by appointment only, so if you need a goat for a holiday, please call ahead so we can make sure that the processor has an available appointment. Our processors are also busier in the fall once deer season starts.
